This open edition fine art print, titled Braided Details and Lunar Motif from Romanian Traditional Vest, captures a piece of cultural history. It measures 50 by 70cm, including a 3cm white border around the 47 by 67cm artwork.
Artwork Description
This artwork is inspired by the intricate details of a traditional Romanian sheepskin vest - pieptar (pronounced pyep-tar) from the Banat Mountains region, a masterpiece of early 20th-century artisan skill. The original garment is elaborately decorated with multicolored wool and cotton embroidery, featuring geometric and stylized floral motifs.
This particular piece focuses on the central lunar symbol found on the back of the vest, framed by meticulously braided "ox-eye" details. It is one of two artworks created to honor the stunning craftsmanship of this cultural artifact.
The historical and ethnographic details of the original vest were provided by ethnologist and PhD candidate Alexandra Negrilă.
Print & Paper Quality
Each print is created using the Giclée inkjet method, ensuring a high-quality, archival print with deeply saturated colors. We use Hahnemühle Pearl 310gsm paper, which has a smooth texture and satin finish for incredible depth and vibrant color. The total print size is 50 x 70 cm, including a 3 cm white border for easy framing. These archival-quality prints are designed to last, resisting fading for up to 40 years in daylight.
