Artwork Description

This print features a simple yet striking design, with a complementary colour palette that highlights its intricate details—a light-coloured fabric accented by a green textile border and rich blue details. It's a perfect conversation starter and a unique addition to any art collection.

The piece of inspiration for this artwork is a cold-weather overcoat (șubă) from the second quarter of the 20th century, originating from Caraș-Severin County. The description of this artefact has been provided courtesy of ethnologist and PhD candidate Alexandra Negrilă.

The overcoat is made from homespun woollen cloth (aba, pănură, or postav) and decorated with black woollen braids (găitane or brandenburgs) that form stylized plant motifs. It also features green broadcloth accents at the cuffs, edges, collar, chest, and chest pockets.

The colour scheme of the original piece is white, green, blue, and black.
