This fineliner drawing is inspired by the intricate traditional waistbelts of Romanian folk attire. It reinterprets the elegance of a men’s black leather waistbelt from Păltiniș, Caraș-Severin County, capturing the delicate beauty of its golden thread-embroidered roses and braided leather edges.

The original piece that inspired this artwork is described by ethnologist and PhD candidate Alexandra Negrilă as a waistbelt - chimir (pronounced kee-meer) from the second quarter of the 20th century. It is a men's folk costume accessory made of hardened leather covered in black velvet, decorated with stylized floral motifs of Byzantine influence embroidered with gold metallic thread. The edges feature a red and green braid of sheepskin leather, creating a color scheme of black, gold, green, and red.
