Artwork Description

This print showcases a traditional textile carrying bag, a staple of regional attire often seen on market days. Combining the features of a backpack and a tote, these bags are known for their braided cord handles and decorative patterns that indicated the wearer's home region. The design is a striking composition of vertical and horizontal stripes.

The original piece that inspired this print is a wool bag - traistă (pronounced try-sta) from Sasca Română, Caraș-Severin county, dating to the second quarter of the 20th century. Woven on a 4-heddle loom, it features braided handles and a bold color scheme of red, black, yellow, and green.
